GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept. 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Alzinova AB, a Swedish clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, is advancing its dual approach to Alzheimer’s disease, as the world marks World Alzheimer’s Day. The company is set to initiate a global Phase II clinical trial for its therapeutic vaccine, ALZ-101, while simultaneously developing a blood-based diagnostic test using its proprietary Aβ42CC technology.

ALZ-101, which has already shown a favorable safety and tolerability profile in a completed Phase Ib study, is now entering a more extensive Phase II trial. The study is expected to enroll approximately 120 participants with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease, with the first participant anticipated to be enrolled around the turn of 2026/2027. The Phase II program builds on the initial findings, which indicated strong, long-lasting immune responses against amyloid-beta (Aβ) and potential stabilization of cognitive function over two years.

In addition to the therapeutic vaccine, Alzinova is expanding the potential applications of its Aβ42CC technology into diagnostics. In collaboration with Amsterdam UMC, the company is developing a blood-based test to validate and build on findings from the Phase Ib study. Separately, Alzinova has signed a Letter of Intent with Fujirebio to explore the test’s potential development and global commercialization.

To fund the next stage of its development, Alzinova has launched a rights issue of approximately USD 5.5 million. The net proceeds from this issue are intended primarily to fund the initiation of the Phase II clinical study, related Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) activities, and working capital.

Alzinova AB focuses on developing treatments for Alzheimer's disease, with a particular emphasis on targeting toxic amyloid-beta oligomers central to disease onset and progression. Its lead candidate, ALZ-101, is a therapeutic vaccine that aims to modulate the immune system to target these harmful proteins. The company's proprietary Aβ42CC technology enables the development of disease-modifying treatments, offering a promising avenue for both therapeutic and diagnostic advancements in Alzheimer's research.
