Alzheimer’s Family Center, a pioneer in adult day care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, is set to host its inaugural Hearts in Harmony concert on Sunday, October 18, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Samueli Center in Costa Mesa. The event will feature Eric Rigler, the most recorded piper in history, and his ensemble Celtic Hollywood.
His unique sound has also been heard in the Emmy Award-winning series "Outlander," among other productions. For the concert, Rigler will lead a sextet that includes symphonic strings, keyboards, guitar, and percussion.
The concert is part of Alzheimer’s Family Center’s broader music program, which the center believes can significantly impact the lives of those living with dementia.
AFC, which has been treating patients for 43 years, is one of only four organizations in California designated as experts through the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Center of Excellence in Dementia Care designation. The center provides compassionate care for patients while helping to improve the quality of life for their families. In addition to music and activities, AFC offers medical and clinical services, including nursing, physical and occupational therapies, nutrition, speech therapy, mental and behavioral health, and transportation.
