On 19 October 2026, Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, secured a first tranche order worth approximately €800 million for the supply of Metropolis trains for urban rail projects in Hanoi. This order is part of a broader agreement announced on 6 October 2026 with Vingroup. The trains will be designed and manufactured at Alstom’s Valenciennes Petite-Forêt site in France.
This significant contract marks a continuation of Alstom’s strong partnership with Vingroup, which has already delivered one of the UK’s most successful urban rail projects. The order will be booked in the third quarter of Alstom’s fiscal year 2026/27.
Alstom’s commitment to sustainable and efficient urban transport solutions is further exemplified by its ongoing support for Greater Anglia’s fleet of 133 Class 720 Aventra trains. These trains will continue to operate until the early 2040s, ensuring a reliable service for passengers during the transition to newer, more advanced technologies.
The €800 million order underscores Alstom’s position as a key player in the global rail market and its ability to deliver large-scale projects in emerging markets like Vietnam. This contract is expected to contribute significantly to Alstom’s revenue and further strengthen its presence in the Southeast Asian region.
