Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to Collect Infant Care Items in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN, September 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is set to host a significant community service event in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 19, 2026. The organization, known for its longstanding legacy of service and community impact, will gather at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a historic landmark in North Nashville, for its Tennessee Statewide Cluster. This day-long meeting will focus on business matters and initiatives of the nation's oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.
During the event, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® will participate in the "Little Ones, Big Love" service project. This initiative aims to collect essential infant care items for babies aged 0-12 months entering foster care and support pregnant and new mothers in need. The donated items will benefit AGAPE Nashville and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, two organizations dedicated to serving vulnerable children and families in the Nashville community.
According to South Eastern Regional Director Toni Franklin, the project reflects AKA's commitment to addressing critical needs in the communities it serves.
Franklin also highlighted the importance of the Tennessee Cluster, noting that Nashville's welcoming atmosphere and outstanding facilities make it an ideal location for the statewide gathering.
The Tennessee Cluster is one of three Statewide Clusters hosted by the South Eastern Region in 2026. The region comprises approximately 124 chapters and more than 15,000 members throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was founded in 1908 at Howard University and today comprises over 390,000 initiated members in over 1,107 graduate and undergraduate chapters located in 45 U.S. states or territories and 12 countries. Guided by a legacy of scholarship, sisterhood, and service, Alpha Kappa Alpha members remain committed to improving the quality of life in local, national, and international communities through impactful programs and initiatives that serve all mankind.
AGAPE Nashville serves children and families through foster care, adoption, maternity care, counseling, and family support services. Donations collected through the "Little Ones, Big Love" project will support mothers and babies served through AGAPE Maria House and Dwelling House. Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center provides healthcare and supportive services to individuals and families throughout the Nashville area, including pregnant women, new mothers, and infants.
