GRAND RAPIDS, MI, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- TeachCultura, a company focused on educational tools, has launched a new board game called Almost Lotería, designed to teach players about Latino history through an engaging and interactive experience. The game, created by Dr. Santos Felipe Ramos, an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Latin American & Latino/a Studies at Grand Valley State University, aims to make learning about significant historical and cultural events both fun and educational.
Almost Lotería incorporates elements of classic lotería, a traditional Mexican game, with trivia and team challenges to enhance the learning experience. The game features 58 playing cards, including concepts such as the Mexican Revolution, the Zapatistas, and the Chicano Movement, as well as arts-based cards like Chicano Park, Los Tigres del Norte, and Chavela Vargas. These cards, accompanied by original illustrations by Chicago-based artist Kayla Macedo, provide a rich visual and thematic experience for players.
Dr. Ramos, who has been playing versions of the game with students for years, has now released it commercially.
The game is suitable for players of all ages, with instructions printed in both Spanish and English. Multiple Indigenous languages are also interwoven into the game, adding depth and cultural richness. The contents of the game include 25 player boards, 58 playing cards, bilingual English/Spanish instructions manuals, and a concise study guide.
To facilitate deeper learning, TeachCultura has also released an Educators Digital Expansion Pack, which includes an expansive list of 150+ hyperlinked podcasts, books, articles, and other teaching resources. This pack, along with facilitation strategies, is designed to help teachers and educators use the game effectively in community and classroom settings.
Dr. Ramos is available for presentations, interviews, consultations, and game nights. The game is now available for order at TeachCultura.com, and visitors can also find the company on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
