AI Simulations Enhance Student Training in EHR

News fromCourierPR · 2 min read

OrchestrateXR and ChartFlow have partnered to introduce AI patient conversations into the educational Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform, ChartFlow. This integration allows students to practice the full cycle of reviewing a patient's chart, engaging in a simulated conversation with the AI patient, and documenting the encounter, all within the same platform. This partnership bridges the gap between classroom learning and clinical practice, providing students with a realistic simulation environment.

The AI patient is built directly from the patient records in the ChartFlow EHR, ensuring that the responses students hear during the conversation mirror the information found in the chart. This integration eliminates the need to write new cases or schedule standardized patients, streamlining the simulation process for educators and students alike.

In clinical practice, the chart and the patient conversation are one cohesive encounter. However, in most simulation programs, the chart and patient conversation are typically separate tools, requiring students to document in one system and practice communication in another. The partnership between OrchestrateXR and ChartFlow addresses this gap by integrating the AI patient conversation directly into the ChartFlow EHR, creating a seamless and comprehensive simulation experience.

The integration is currently available to ChartFlow customers, who can purchase the Conversations feature through ChartFlow. Institutions can also connect their existing OrchestrateXR account to the platform.

OrchestrateXR, a company that helps nursing and healthcare programs scale clinical simulation, offers a range of tools including Conversations, which provides learners with realistic, unscripted encounters with AI-driven standardized patients, followed by personalized, automated feedback on communication and clinical reasoning. Experiences, another OrchestrateXR product, adds 360° video training for procedural and environmental scenarios, and both are no-code, browser-based tools that integrate with any SCORM-compliant Learning Management System (LMS).

ChartFlow, an educational EHR built for simulation, nursing, allied health, medical assisting, and career and technical education programs, supports teaching across simulation, clinical, and classroom settings. The Real-Time Simulation Control Panel allows educators to change scenarios on the fly, and more than 95 pre-built patient scenarios support teaching in various settings.

The partnership between OrchestrateXR and ChartFlow marks a significant advancement in the field of healthcare education, providing students with a more comprehensive and realistic simulation experience. This integration not only enhances the learning experience but also prepares students for the realities of clinical practice.
