MEXICO CITY, Sept. 03, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Grupo Aeroméxico S.A.B. de C.V., the leading airline in Mexico, has reported robust traffic results for August 2026, showcasing resilience despite a challenging comparison with the same month last year. According to the company's latest operational data, Aeroméxico's total capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), saw a 2.3% year-over-year increase, while demand, as measured by revenue passenger miles (RPMs), grew by 2.9%.
The August load factor, a key metric indicating the airline's capacity utilization, reached 89.7%, a 0.6 percentage point improvement over the previous year. During the month, Aeroméxico transported a total of 2,151,000 passengers, demonstrating the company's ability to meet high travel demands.
Andrés Conesa, Chief Executive Officer of Aeroméxico, commented, "Our August traffic results illustrate the strength of demand across our network, especially as we concluded the peak summer travel season with strong domestic and international load factors. Despite the challenging comparison with August 2025, forward bookings continue to reflect healthy demand trends as we move into the fall season, reinforcing our confidence in the demand outlook."
In light of rising fuel costs, Aeroméxico remains committed to disciplined capacity deployment, network optimization, and fuel recapture initiatives. These measures are aimed at capitalizing on demand opportunities while ensuring long-term profitability. "As we navigate an evolving operating environment, our focus remains on executing strategies that are within our control," Conesa added.
The metrics used in the report, including RPMs and ASMs, offer a clear picture of the airline's performance. RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, represent the total distance flown by paying passengers, while ASMs, or available seat miles, reflect the total number of seats offered across the network. The load factor, which is the percentage of seats filled, is a key indicator of how well the airline is utilizing its capacity.
Aeroméxico's current operating fleet includes Boeing 787 and 737 aircraft, as well as Embraer 190s, providing a mix of wide-body and narrow-body options to meet diverse passenger needs. As a founding member of SkyTeam, Aeroméxico benefits from the alliance's extensive global network, offering connectivity to over 145 countries through its 18 partner airlines.
While the company's forward-looking statements reflect current expectations, Aeroméxico cautions that these statements are subject to various risks and uncertainties. "We are under no obligation to update or revise any forward-looking statements," Conesa stated, emphasizing the company's commitment to transparency and realistic expectations.
