Advanced AI Society Launches Proof-of-Control for Open AI Verification

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Advanced AI Society, an alliance focused on building trust in artificial intelligence, has joined the Linux Foundation and launched an open verification ecosystem. The organization has released the Proof-of-Control v1.0 draft for public comment, inviting feedback through October 30, 2026, at advancedaisociety.org/proof-of-control.
The draft, co-designed with over 80 global security leaders, aims to address the growing need for verifiable agent controls. As autonomous AI agents become more prevalent, the ability to continuously monitor and verify their actions is critical. The Proof-of-Control standard seeks to ensure that AI agents can be openly verified by anyone, without relying on the operator's word.
The announcement comes as bipartisan Congressional proposals demand continuous agent verification and third-party evaluation. The legislation aims to ensure that AI agents operate within defined parameters and can be audited for compliance. By releasing the v1.0 working draft, Advanced AI Society is responding to these mandates and providing a standard for the industry.
The Proof-of-Control standard builds on the production-proven verifiable AI technologies of the alliance's member companies. It requires an agent's authority to be defined before it acts, produces evidence at runtime that it stayed inside that authority, and makes that evidence auditable across the entire agent lifecycle.
The launch of Proof-of-Control is being hosted by LF Decentralized Trust, a lab within the Linux Foundation. This partnership ensures that the standard is developed in a neutral environment, free from the influence of any single company. The Linux Foundation's General Manager, Decentralized Technologies, Daniela Barbossa, expressed the importance of this collaboration.
The public launch event, "Who's Watching the Machines? Launching Open Verification, the Proof-of-Control Standard for the Agentic Era," will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Industry support for Proof-of-Control is strong. Charles Iheagwara, Global Head of AI & Cybersecurity at AstraZeneca, said, "We're running on a broken trust model, vendor assertions instead of evidence. That doesn't work when patient safety and our intellectual property are on the line. We need open verification: a transparent, inspectable way to know what these agents actually did."
Bruce Schneier, a cryptographer and technical advisor, added, "When non-deterministic machines make decisions in milliseconds, human inspection fails. Only automated tools can keep pace, and while cryptography cannot be used to solve every security problem related to agents, it can help considerably with some of them."
