WASHINGTON, Oct. 01, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- 60 Degrees Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes new medicines for vector-borne diseases, announced on October 6, 2026, that it will disclose interim analysis results from a clinical study evaluating tafenoquine in patients hospitalized with severe babesiosis (NCT06207370). The study, which began in 2020, aims to assess the efficacy and safety of tafenoquine as a treatment for severe cases of babesiosis, a tick-borne disease that can be life-threatening, especially in immunocompromised hosts.

In conjunction with the data release, the company will host a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) investor webinar on the same day. The webinar will feature leading experts in the field of babesiosis, including Dr. Peter J. Krause, a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale School of Public Health and Yale School of Medicine, and Dr. Edouard Vannier, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. These experts will discuss the clinical burden of persistent babesiosis, treatment limitations under current guidelines, and the potential role of tafenoquine in addressing recurrent tick-borne infections.

Dr. Krause, who led the original antibiotic treatment trial establishing atovaquone/azithromycin as the standard-of-care for babesiosis 25 years ago, will provide context on the current treatment landscape. Dr. Vannier, a leading clinical researcher specializing in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of Babesia microti infection, will review the clinical data from 60 Degrees' hospital and expanded access studies and the relevant literature.

The webinar, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time on October 6, 2026, will highlight the substantial unmet medical need for new therapeutic options in relapsing and treatment-refractory babesiosis. The speakers will address the clinical burden of persistent babesiosis in immunocompromised hosts, treatment limitations under current guidelines, and the mechanistic rationale for tafenoquine combination therapy. A live question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

60 Degrees Pharmaceuticals, founded in 2010, has a history of developing and commercializing new medicines for vector-borne diseases. The company achieved U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of its lead product, ARAKODA® (tafenoquine), for malaria prevention in 2018. Currently, the company has active clinical trials underway for babesiosis, an emerging tick-borne disease. ARAKODA is sold commercially in the U.S. and Australia, and the company collaborates with prominent research and academic organizations in the U.S. and Australia to advance science around vector-borne disease.
