MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, September 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The 3rd Sustainable Flexible Packaging LATAM Conference, convened by Centre for Management Technology (CMT) with support from ECOCE A.C., is scheduled to take place on October 27-28, 2026, at the Mexico City Marriott Reforma Hotel. The conference aims to explore practical pathways towards greater circularity in flexible packaging without compromising performance, affordability, or supply security. The event will feature a diverse range of speakers and sessions, including discussions on material design, regulatory convergence, and commercial viability of circular packaging.
The agenda of the conference covers the entire value chain of flexible packaging, from film design and procurement through product transformation, regulation, recovery, and secondary-market development. Key topics will include ultra-thin films, mono-material solutions, and bio-based films as routes to minimize regulatory costs. Sustainable Packaging Design Solutions incorporating PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) and development of monomaterial structures will also be discussed.

Dr. Carlos Ludlow Palafox from Environmental Value UK will position the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation as a global benchmark, discussing implementation requirements, alignment of packaging portfolios across markets, and lessons for Latin America involving design for recyclability, recycled content, and packaging minimization.
The commercial viability of circular flexible packaging also depends on functioning recovery markets. AMEE will explore how circular solutions can extend the value of flexible packaging and move discarded material from waste towards resource. Dayana Sabie Naranjo from BF Empaques Flexibles de Mexico (Bioflex) will move the discussion from corporate commitment to practical action, examining strategies for the valorization of flexible plastics in Mexico and the connections required among packaging design, collection, recovery, and end markets.
Delamination as a route for recovering higher-value polymers will be presented by Jade Manzano Kuri and Roberto Llano from Evertis de México. The technology discussion will extend to label innovation and barrier coatings for mono-material packaging.
On October 28, the discussion will expand into combined sessions with the co-located 22nd LAPET Series, Circular Plastics Packaging LATAM conference. The event will also feature a site visit to the Azcapotzalco Transfer Station and Sorting Plant on the afternoon of October 29, with registrations open to all conference participants.
