213 Saskatchewan Officers Honored for Impaired Driving Enforcement

OAKVILLE, Ontario, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- At the eighth annual MADD Canada Van de Vorst Family Police Awards, 213 Saskatchewan police officers were recognized for their efforts in impaired driving enforcement in 2025. The awards, named in memory of Jordan and Chanda Van de Vorst and their children, Kamryn and Miguire, who were tragically killed by an impaired driver in 2016, honored officers for their dedication to keeping the province's roads, waterways, and trails safe.

This year, MADD Canada introduced a new Diamond Award for officers who have taken 145 or more impaired drivers off the roads, waterways, and trails. Three Saskatchewan officers received this inaugural award. The Gold Coin Award and a certificate of recognition were given to officers who charged 17 or more impaired drivers, while the Silver Challenge Coin and a certificate of recognition went to those who removed between 8 and 16 impaired drivers from the roads, waterways, and trails. The Platinum Award recognized officers who removed 40 or more impaired drivers.

MADD Canada’s Western Region Manager, Tracy Crawford, and Communications Manager, Arielle Nkongmeneck, were available for interviews to discuss the significance of the awards and the impact of the officers' efforts. The awards ceremony was held in Saskatoon and Regina, recognizing the critical role that law enforcement plays in preventing impaired driving.

Crawford stated, "These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers who are committed to keeping our communities safe. Each officer who received an award today has made a significant impact in reducing impaired driving incidents."
